Southern Vermont’s jewel, the Robert Todd Lincoln estate, is located in the scenic village of Manchester. ‘Hildene,’ as it is called, is situated on a west-ward facing promontory overlooking the Battenkill Valley, with broad sweeping views of the Taconic range to the East. The atmosphere is quaint and intimate. It’s a magical place with wonderful, private photography nooks, incredible event infrastructure with majestic views to create a truly memorable ceremony, rehearsal or reception.
Imagine farm tables, lush peonies and fresh, mountain air. Imagine photographs on the steps of the Lincoln family home. There is at once something so affirming about the venue and yet it’s backdrop creates weddings as if out of a dream.
Even though a registered, active historic site, the property is so well-versed in wedding culture that they have a dedicated florist and award-winning caterer who are committed to bringing the very best of Vermont to your reception table. Your menu will be influenced by the produce and products of local farmers and the richness of the season.
It’s simply hard to imagine a ‘local’ wedding more spectacular or a venue that better captures the essence of Vermont. It’s one of our favorites!
We celebrated a beautiful start to the 2013 season at Janet Dunnington Events. The spring months brought us a flurry of inspiration while we visited favorite venues to catch up on renovations and additions. We made a few special trips to explore locations new to our portfolio–so much fun! While your wedding theme may be inspired by a singular detail – a pennant, a flower, an heirloom dress – choosing the perfect venue will be the key to making that theme come to life. Janet Dunnington Events has mastered the art of destination events and invites you to take a peek at what’s new and gorgeous for 2013.
Congratulations, you’ve taken the leap and now you’re getting ready to tie the knot. You want to do something special, something extraordinary, to celebrate the commitment and the good friends and family that have been with you both along the way. A breathtaking landscape to back your wedding weekend is the best way to set the tone and reward your guests for their love and support. Give them something incredible to look at. We fell in love with the renovated accommodations at Dorset Village’s Barrows House. Full of light, outfitted with contemporary amenities and beautiful landscaping and gardens, The Barrows House is a beautiful venue to host your next affair. From an inspired dining event in the newly renovated restaurant or under the stars in a stunning tent, the property is just next door to all kinds of great weekend activities.
Oh! The straightforward lines of a 19th century shaker farm and gorgeous views of the Berkshire Hills make a great setting for a unique and timeless destination wedding. From garden party elegance to nostalgic romance, we adored the barns, reception halls and property at Hancock Shaker Village (pictured above).
‘Rustic Chic,’ ‘Farm to Table,’ and ‘Sophisticated Country’ are just a few recently popular wedding themes. In our spring travels we visited two outstanding locations that really fit the bill. Pictured above, the magnificent Riverside Farm, on 700 acres in Pittsfield. What a dream! And below, the Amee Farm Lodge, located on one of the most scenic Vermont roads –Route 100 – just 10 minutes from Killington. The gorgeous photos taken by Cronin Hill Photography.
